Vlore is a beautiful coastal city along the famous Vlore is a beautiful coastal city along the famous Albanian Riviera, known for its beaches, restaurants, and bars 🏖️

It’s also considered to be the oldest city in Albania so there’s plenty of history to unravel here 👀

Many people who visit Vlore tend to stay along the coastline and spend time relaxing on the beaches. If you have the time though I would highly recommend taking the short drive to Vlore’s old town and Kanine Castle 🚗

The Butrint National Park has been inhabited since The Butrint National Park has been inhabited since prehistoric times but gets its name from Greek mythology 🏺

It was also inhabited by the Romans and came under the control of the Byzantine and Ottoman Empires, which is why there’s this impressive castle nestled among the ancient ruins 🏰

Gjirokaster is also known as the “city of stone” or the “city of a thousand steps”. Once you arrive in this historic city you’ll immediately notice the beautiful Ottoman-era houses and narrow streets carved from stone 🪨

It may not be a large old town but there are a lot of things to do in Gjirokaster during a day trip. There are also numerous historical and archaeological sites nearby that are worth driving to such as Antigonea and Hadrianopolis 🇦🇱

Visiting Apollonia will make you feel like you’r Visiting Apollonia will make you feel like you’re in Greece since these ancient ruins in Albania were once a Greek colony 🤪

At its peak in the 4th century it was an important trade and economic centre – even the Roman emperor Augustus studied here 📚

This archaeological site in Albania should take approximately 90 minutes to walk around. Once you’re done you can take a look at the Archaeological Museum as well as the impressive monastery 😮‍💨🇦🇱
